In this article, we share our Q&A series in which we answer the most common questions our customers ask about laser and CNC equipment. Whether you are new to working with CNC machines or want to understand the existing settings better, this guide will clarify important issues such as warranties, machine compatibility and software.

Why is the laser tube warranty so short?

One of the most frequently asked questions concerns the relatively short warranty period for laser tubes. It is important to understand that the warranty is provided directly by the manufacturer of the laser tubes, and not by the machine. As a supplier, we are responsible for providing replacement assistance if the problem is fixed in accordance with the warranty conditions.

The service life of a laser tube largely depends on how it is used. For example, if the pipe is used mainly for engraving, it operates at about 30-35% of its capacity and can last much longer. Continuous cutting requires 100% power, which significantly reduces the service life of the pipe.

If you keep the laser power below 80% at all times, you can expect a longer tube life.

Wattsan Q&A

Do you provide software for CNC milling machines?

Yes, we are doing it. Wattsan offers various controller options for CNC milling machines.

A wide range of compatible software solutions are available for creating milling files, from ArtCAM to Fusion 360 and others. Each client, as a rule, chooses the software that best suits his needs and level of knowledge.

Can you install a more powerful tube in a CO2 machine?

Absolutely. Although it is not included as standard, we can configure your CO2 laser machine so that it is equipped with a 200W-300W tube. The ideal tube power depends on the material you are working with and the type of work you are doing.

Wattsan Q&A

Is there a machine that can cut both wood and metal?

Unfortunately, there is no single laser machine that can efficiently process both wood and metal. These materials require completely different wavelengths and technologies.

CO2 laser machines are ideal for cutting and engraving wood, plywood, MDF and plastic. On the other hand, fiber lasers are required for metalworking. Attempts to cut metal with a CO2 laser are not only ineffective, but can also damage the machine.

If you are just starting out, we recommend:

  1. CO2 machines (e.g. 0404, 0609) for wood and plastic processing
  2. Compact fiber laser machines (e.g. 0503, 6040) for marking light metals
  3. Laser cleaning machines for removing rust or graffiti from metal surfaces
Wattsan Q&A

What’s the difference between the A and M series CNC milling machines?

This is an important technical issue.

  1. The A-series CNC milling machines are designed for easier tasks. They are best suited for processing plastics, foam and soft woods.
  2. M-series milling machines such as M1 are designed for heavier operations. They feature a more robust body, reinforced mechanical components, increased Z-axis clearance, and high-performance spindles. These machines are ideally suited for processing harder materials and working under increased loads.
Wattsan Q&A

Can Wattsan milling machines work with metal?

Wattsan milling machines can process soft metals such as aluminum. However, they are not designed for high-performance cutting of hard metals such as stainless steel. Specialized metalworking equipment is required to process these materials.

Are Wattsan machines fully equipped?

Yes, all Wattsan machines are fully equipped and ready for use after installation. There is no need to purchase additional components unless you want to extend the functionality of your machine.

Some materials are unsafe or incompatible with CO2 lasers. These include:

  1. PVC
  2. ABS
  3. HDPE
  4. Fiberglass
  5. All types of metals

Handling of these materials can lead to the release of toxic fumes or damage to the equipment.

Conclusion

Understanding the capabilities and limitations of your CNC or laser machine is crucial for safe and efficient operation. At Wattsan, we strive to provide you not only with high-quality equipment, but also with the recommendations you need to make full use of it.
